1. General
These terms and conditions apply to all plumbing, gas, and heating works undertaken by Brian Barnes trading as BWB Heating Solutions (“the Engineer”). By booking a service, the Client (“you”) agrees to be bound by these terms.
2. Quotations and Estimates
- Estimates: A verbal or written estimate is an approximation of the likely cost of the work.
- Quotations: A formal written quotation is valid for 30 days from the date of issue.
- Additional Work: If, upon starting work, additional faults or necessary repairs are discovered that were not visible during the initial assessment, the Engineer will provide a revised price before proceeding.
3. Payments
- Residential Work: Payment is due in full immediately upon completion of the works and submission of an invoice.
- Commercial Work: Payment terms for commercial contracts are 14 days from the date of invoice, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
- Deposits: For large projects (e.g., full heating systems or boiler replacements), a deposit for materials (usually 50%) may be required before work commences.
- Late Payments: We reserve the right to charge interest on overdue accounts at a rate of 8% above the Bank of England base rate.
4. Cancellations
- Please provide at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
- Failure to provide notice or if the Engineer is unable to gain access to the property at the agreed time may result in a “call-out charge” to cover time and travel.
5. Workmanship and Warranties
- Workmanship: All labour is guaranteed for 12 months from the date of completion.
- Materials: Parts and appliances (e.g., boilers, cylinders) are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. BWB Heating Solutions is not responsible for manufacturer defects but will assist in warranty claims where possible.
- Exclusions: The guarantee does not cover damage caused by misuse, external interference, or pre-existing faults in the Client’s system (e.g., sludge or debris in old pipework).
6. Client Obligations
- The Client must ensure clear access to the boiler, cylinders, and any relevant pipework.
- The Client must ensure that a person over the age of 18 is present at the property.
- For gas safety checks, the Client must ensure there is sufficient credit on gas and electricity meters to allow the Engineer to test the appliances.
7. Gas Safety and Building Regulations
- As a Gas Safe Registered engineer (No. 524970), the Engineer is legally bound to “Turn Off” any appliance deemed Immediately Dangerous (ID) or At Risk (AR).
- We will notify the Gas Safe Register of all relevant installations. You will receive your Building Regulations Compliance Certificate directly from Gas Safe.
8. Liability
- BWB Heating Solutions will take all reasonable care while working on your property. However, we cannot be held liable for the failure of aged or poorly maintained systems (e.g., a leak occurring after a system power flush due to pre-existing corrosion).
- The Engineer maintains valid Public Liability Insurance for both domestic and commercial works.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
